Private sales

On Duty Uniforms does not facilitate private firearm sales between individuals. All firearms transferred through us are subject to the following transfer fees:

• Receivers: $30
• Rifles/Shotguns: $40
• Pistols: $50

Firearms purchased from On Duty Uniforms are not subject to transfer fees, however you are still responsible for background check fees.

Requirements for transferred firearms

Any firearm transferred to On Duty Uniforms must comply with all New York State and Federal laws. Firearms must also be shipped with the following:

• A functional gun lock appropriate for that firearm (available for purchase at On Duty Uniforms if not included).
• A proper gun case for each firearm.
• A copy of the transferor’s Federal Firearms License (FFL). They may contact us at ffl@ondutystore.com to request a copy of our FFL.
• If shipped from a private individual, a photocopy of their driver’s license.

Shipping requirements

Firearms must be shipped using a major carrier (USPS, Fedex, UPS) that provides tracking information.

Customer responsibility

It is the sole responsibility of the customer to coordinate with the transferring licensee, including:

• Providing all necessary documentation.
• Paying shipping costs.
• Notifying On Duty Uniforms by email before the firearm arrives. Emails must be sent to ffl@ondutystore.com with the transferee’s name in the subject line and include: make/model of the firearm; buyer’s contact information (name, address, daytime phone); and contact information for the transferring FFL (name, address, phone, email, and contact person).

Status and pickup

Please use carrier-provided tracking to check firearm status. Firearms may be picked up 24 hours after arrival at On Duty Uniforms. Questions should be emailed to ffl@ondutystore.com.

Firearms transferred to On Duty Uniforms from an FFL, private person, or police department must be picked up within 7 days of arrival. Firearms transferred as part of an estate or police turn-in must be picked up within 30 days. Firearms not picked up within the above timeframes will incur a $5/day storage fee. Any firearm not claimed within 90 days of arrival will be considered abandoned.

Handgun storage pending permits/amendments

Handguns must be picked up within 7 days of receiving your updated license or permit, otherwise, $5/day storage fee applies.

• Handguns not picked up within 90 days of license approval will be deemed abandoned.
• If you are applying for a new pistol permit, we will store your purchased handgun for up to six months with no charge. If delay occurs in issuing your permit, you must contact us immediately.

Abandoned firearms

Any firearm not claimed within 90 days may be treated as abandoned property, subject to applicable federal, state, and local law. On Duty Uniforms reserves all rights permitted by law with respect to unclaimed firearms, including transfer, disposition, or sale where legally allowed.
